Masters thesis about designing a novel haptic mouse for simulating texture roughness as part of palpation training for medical education purposes.

outcomes

Design, CAD, wiring and build of prototype as well as implementation of experiment to test psycho-physical response to varying vibrations Literature review in both mechanical principles of vibration and available technologies as well as biological mechanisms behind the fingertips’ texture perceptions. Awarded the Institute of Engineering Technology prize (2022) and nominated for submission to ICRA conference by professors.
